It was over a year ago that Joanna and I got in touch, it was over Facebook or some other social networking site. It was then almost a year later that we both found a moment to shoot. I was in London and just happened to have a cancelled date, so Joanna got in contact with the amazing Dorota Wójcik Sułkowska who was super kind to drop things at last moment and come and do the hair and make up for us.
Enroute from Birmingham back to London I stopped off, ran into Topshop, grabbed the hat & jacket which added to the bits that Joanna had brought along.
I had been itching to ‘borrow’ the towel concept from Mario Testino too.. so it was a great day, lots of shooting and personal I think a great set of images.
Lighting was all done with a single Speed light & something called a Round Flash which my good buddy Simon sent me. I have been a fan of simple speed light set ups for a while and this little pop up thing does just the trick.
This shoot was also one of the first times I had really used the Sigma 50mm in anger on the D800. I just love these new lenses from Sigma. Stunning build, amazing clarity , super sharp and lovely to shoot with too. Lee Filters provided the shaping of the light plus letting me stop down to f1.4 here and there using the ND filters on the matte box. Still though.. out of all the kit I used on this shoot, the Sigma 105mm is so super impressive when you factor in the age of the lens and how much it would cost you new today. For under £400 you just will not find a better lens, anywhere….
Oh the bed image…. 3 third down was shot on the Fuji X-T1 using the 16-55mm XF lens

Enjoy the photos and share away as much as you wish…. It was well worth the wait to shoot with Joanna but I promise we will be shooting again but not such a long wait next time !
