Over the years I have met so many amazing people yet my afternoon with Peliroja I think will remain with me for a long time. We had such a laugh and I think we created some amazing images.

So, as with the last couple of posts, I have mentioned my love for Helmut Newton. In the last few weeks I have been studying his work and building up to shoot my own fashion erotica and so far this has been my most forward shoot into this wonderful genre.

Nudity is nothing to be ashamed about, I was also told that as a photographer we should focus on things we enjoy and why is it such a thing to say that we should hide these things away. It could be put that Helmut’s work is all about power, sex, money and the strength of the female form, but there is something more, something deeper. For me, it is very clear he has a great and deep respect for the girls he shoots. They are not objects but part of the whole image, the whole aspect of photography.

Frames From TheEdge – Helmut Newton

Peliroja is was such an amazing person to shoot with, we met last year at a party and I knew that she would be perfect for this shoot.  We shot a range of images going from edited images which are more polished then some other more raw based shots – all are below.

 

Something I heard Duffy say once was very interesting to m, he commented that when you look though the lens of a camera at someone the change that happens is amazing. Just the idea that a frame can totally change the view has always been such an interesting aspect to me. From landscapes to portraits, I think this is never more apparent than when photographing nude or provocative subjects.  Yes these images are sexual in nature and designed to be provocative, but at the time of shooting they were nothing of the sort. All that feeling and atmosphere is somehow condensed though the camera, though the lens and recorded on camera. Pretty amazing.
