The People and Places books, are in many ways my little effort to bring the thoughts and feelings that I live with, to a physical form. It is the way that I voice myself. My story is one of an man walking though an interesting life, these are some of the things I have seen on the way.
“Digital files do not store emotion as well as paper.”
I have tried to keep a more traditional line on the types of images in VOL2. Recently, I have realy enjoyed going back to basics and shooting classic portraiture . One light, one camera and very little processing, with a few more edited DKP styled images in for a good measure. This book is a more direct take on the People and Places title than the first book was.

The landscapes elements also feature of the the Infra-red images. Many of these images had been shot years ago, but they felt right to add in to this book after I shot some more with the IR camera in America in 2013. As a body of work, I do thing both books give a pretty good context to my worlds, past and present.

The quote I have choose to open the new book is;
“Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things you didn’t do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines, sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover.” – Mark Twain
It is a quote that I really enjoy and more than ever really take to heart. 2013 was a year of learning and year hard lessons in a few ways. Learning about your self can sometimes raise tough questions and difficult answers. The quote I used for the first book was
“Every portrait that is painted with feeling is a portrait of the artist, not the sitter” - Oscar Wilde
I see these two books as a progression of learning about myself and the world around me. The first one being a more inward look, and the second reflecting me wanting to move on and learn about the world around me. As all ways, with these books, they are not designed from the outset to tell a story, but a collected retrospective for myself.

We love Blurb and have enjoyed support from them for a couple of years now. They go that little step beyond and care about the community in a fantastic way. They have brought printing books to the masses and made it super easy for all photographers to print stunning books. The Lightroom & In design ingratiation is just one example how hard they work to make it easy for us.
