Ever since the early days of being a photographer I have liked having my camera on a tripod.   Shooting Landscapes or portraits I have always found that having a stable camera is just of great advantage.

Portraits:
When shooting with people, getting the camera steady and stable can give you chance to get your lighting settings sorted. Keeping a fixed position lets your model work with defined limits and know how the frame is going to look.  Shooting close up beauty or macro it is near essential to have a stable camera.  Most times, mid way though a shoot, once I have got a rhythm going, I can break loose from the tripod and crank up the creative factor.

Landscapes:
Shooting from a stable base is one of the most vital elements in landscape photography. Now the X-Pro has as dedicated CSC size ball head and tripod (Keith + AirHead0 3 Legged Thing)  it has a mount to fit it perfectly.  Shooting long exposures are now a simple easy joy.

Macro:
I would guess that every macro photographer has and does use the most stable tripod they can find. Having to change the battery meant taking the camera off the mount plate and thus moving the camera. A big problem for macro photographers.

These plates from http://photomaddshop.co.uk/ have some little extra features that slove some problems the X-Pro, X100s and the X-E1 all had.  The battery and SD door was mounted so close to the tripod mount that once a plate was on you lost access to the door, plus since the plate rested on the door to the battery, it was very hard to get stable. All of these problems are solved and we also have an extra groovy finger grip.
